Drake Specialties Metal Valve Spray Shields are constructed of 24 gauge 316 stainless steel sheet metal. Valve Shields are available for all sizes and types of valves with stems such as butterfly, ball and plug valves, and valves without stems such as check valves - both wafer and swing check valves.
Gate and globe valves also have a stem, which travels through the upper section, called a bonnet, atop the valve body. Valve Bonnet shields by Drake are conical in shape, and cover the entire bonnet area. For complete globe and gate valve protection, 3 pieces total are required: 2 flange shields and 1 valve bonnet shield.
Unique features of Metal Valve Shields are overlapping, slotted edges on the sides which prevent lateral blowouts and sprayouts. Equally distanced spacer rods further reduce lateral sprays through pressure reduction. An optional stainless drain nipple serves as a leak port for visual and secondary containment purposes. Another optional feature is a stainless screen lining which helps to reduce misting or splashing. Firmly held in place by hose clamp style fasteners, these shields require a screwdriver or cordless drill for installation.
Typical valves we manufacture spray shields for include:
-
Ball Valves
-
Plug Valves
-
Check Valves
-
Diaphragm Valves
-
Butterfly Valves
-
Control Valves
-
Gate Valves
-
Globe Valves
Although Teflon Valve Shields are the most popular style, not all chemicals or applications are compatible with thermoplastic materials. Stainless Valve Shields outperform in these adverse situations, including hostile climates and unpleasant external environments requiring a more suitable, rigid spray shield. Recommended for all high temperature and high pressure applications up to 2000“ and 3000 psi, Drake Specialties' Metal Valve Shields protect personnel, equipment, and the environment.
